New Chapter Checklist

Local advisors should complete these steps within the first month of starting a chapter. Completing this checklist will set the foundation for a dynamic and successful BPA chapter.

1

Connect with Your State Advisor

Establish a relationship early to learn about state-level conferences, competitive events, and award programs, and to understand how your chapter can participate.

2

Recruit Local Advisors

Identify additional faculty or staff to join your leadership team, share responsibilities, and help mentor students.

3

Submit the New Charter Application

Complete and submit the official application through a potential advisor or school administrator to make your chapter recognized by BPA.

4

Recruit Student Members

Actively promote BPA to students, explain the benefits, and begin building a diverse and engaged membership base.

5

Make It Official at Your School

Work with school administration to formally establish the chapter and hold your first meeting to set goals and expectations.

6

Create and Approve a Chapter Constitution

Collaboratively draft a constitution that defines how your chapter will operate, make decisions, and uphold BPA’s mission.

7

Elect Chapter Officers

Hold elections to fill officer positions, clearly define roles, and ensure leaders are prepared to serve effectively.

8

Register Members in the Membership Registration System (MRS)
